Ancient Egypt Season

Featuring two free exhibitions, the season will explore the beauty and mystery of ancient Egypt celebrating two of the greatest Egyptian discoveries of the last 200 years. The decoding of the Rosetta Stone in 1822, which unlocked our understanding of the ancient Egyptian world. Then one hundred years later, the discovery in 1922 of the almost undisturbed tomb of Tutankhamun which sparked a worldwide sensation.

Explore Hull’s rich maritime history with a guided tour of the city centre and discover 800 years of seafaring heritage through the buildings, stories and people. Led by dedicated volunteers, who are accredited White Badge tours guides, the tours offer visitors a chance to learn more about Hull and how the city has been shaped by its past, present and future. Two tours are available, a two-and-a-half-hour trail, and a 90-minute version.

Family Easter Bunny Hunt

Hunt down Easter bunnies and hear the Easter story told by children and the family groups. Explore the Minster and find all eight, decipher the clues and head to the shop to receive a prize. A mobile with a QR code reader is required. Open during normal Minster opening hours.

East-er Coast Exploration
The Deep

Join The Deep this Easter for an exploration of the local coastline, home to a wide variety of native species. There will be presentations with fascinating facts about fossils and jellyfish species, while youngsters can get creative by colouring in their own jellyfish or fossil magnets as well as hunt for clues to fill out a jellyfish trail sheet for the chance to win a prize.

The Easter Bunnies have escaped and are hiding in some of the shop widows at the Fruit Market.  Everyone who completes the trail will receive a small prize.

Minster History Tours

With links to famous fathers of Hull’s industrial and maritime merchant heritage, the Minster has played its part in local and national events. These stories are retold by tour guides as visitors walk through the Minster and the history of Hull.

Beer Festival

This is a chance to drink some of the best beer from the local area and beyond as breweries runn their own bar, with five sessions over three days. Tickets include a souvenir glass to use and take away plus a beer guide. Food will also be available.

Hull International Choir Competition 2023

27 – 30 April

Twenty-seven world class choirs from 10 countries are set to present a festival of eclectic music across Hull. The first time the prestigious International Choir Competition has been held in the UK, 1,000 participants will come together to compete in choral competitions – much of which will be staged behind closed doors. But the choirs will also bring their special performances outdoors for everyone to enjoy as part of a ‘Friendship Concert’.

 

EAST YORKSHIRE

An exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour, led by an expert guide, to  discover the cellars, attics, rooftops and everything else in-between. The ticket also includes access to the Grounds and Stables, plus a self-guided walk round the Hall, followed by a homemade scone served with clotted cream – and an option to upgrade to a full Afternoon Tea.

An Easter trail of eight boards will take visitors around the grounds of the Hall, solving clues and learning about the history of this seasonal celebration while exploring the extensive gardens. Find all the 25 hand carved and painted wooden eggs hidden in the woodland.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs Reserve

Many of Bempton’s seabirds are returning to the reserve after a long winter out at sea, but the wind has been playing tricks and all of the eggs have been muddled up, in this special Easter trail. Complete the trail and pick up your Easter activity pack from the welcome team.

Race The Waves

A “one-off” event within the UK motoring calendar returns to the East Yorkshire coastal town of Bridlington. Most of the racing on the beach takes place on the Saturday and Sunday, but the entire festival of speed can be enjoyed free of charge by visitors.

Mottisfont celebrates the legacy of one of Britain’s most popular cartoonists with a new, major exhibition for his centenary year. Over 70 works include Thelwell’s trademark ponies and other humorous illustrations, local landscapes, and sharp satire. Drawing on Thelwell’s autobiography, Wrestling with a Pencil, the exhibition will provide an intimate look at his artistic life, with early drawings and extracts from diaries on display for the first time.
