Communities will take centre stage in 2026 when Hull celebrates with spectacular day and night parades through the city’s streets along with a host of cultural events.
Local arts organisation and charity, Back to Ours, will deliver a brand-new event, Our City, in March 2026 as part of a packed weekend programme alongside successful science and arts festival, Colliderfest, and established conference Cultural Tides.
Bringing together community groups and organisations from across the city, coordinated by Back to Ours, Our City will be “made with, and for, the people of Hull” and feature two city centre parades ending in Queen Victoria Square.
As well as celebrating its local identity, the programme aims to reflect Hull’s location as Yorkshire’s only maritime city by creating ‘waves’ of community activity from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, building into the large-scale city centre parades.
‘Everyone Back to Ours’ was a catchphrase for Hull’s time as UK City of Culture in 2017, and the Back to Ours festival, which brought big name acts to unexpected places in venues across Hull, was one of the highlight events of the year.
The new programme of creative community culture and heritage events, and the Our City parades, will run alongside Colliderfest, a four-day science and arts extravaganza featuring educational activities for schools as well as public workshops and shows for visitors, and Cultural Tides, Hull’s flagship annual culture conference.
More details of the new event – which has been commissioned by Hull City Council – will be revealed later.
