East Yorkshire’s medieval minster town of Beverley aims to offer visitors another cracker of a Christmas, with a new look seasonal line-up featuring five days of festive entertainment.
Back again following its launch last year, the Made in East Yorkshire Christmas Market returns along with the ever-popular Beverley Festival of Christmas – now one of the largest festive celebrations of its type in the UK.
Beverley, with its magnificent 13th century Minster, narrow streets, antique shops and craft arcades, is renowned for its colourful market, historical architecture and its annual seasonal celebrations.
Last year the new market, which showcases produce and crafts made exclusively by East Yorkshire businesses, followed on from the one-day Festival of Christmas.
But for 2022, the running order has been switched around to offer visitors three chances for some extra special seasonal shopping and celebrations.
It all starts with the Made in East Yorkshire event from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 December, before the traditional Saturday Market takes over on 10 December with a Christmas theme. The Beverley Festival of Christmas, supported by the Beverley Arms Hotel, then completes the festive line-up in grand style on Sunday 11 December.
One of the region’s flagship events, it transforms the centre of Beverley into a Christmas wonderland for shoppers, featuring more than 110 stalls brimming with Christmas gifts and local treats.
While full details of this year’s Festival are still to be revealed, it traditionally features a host of seasonal treats, along with the Christmas Market, including a fairground, street entertainers, music and dance… and, of course, an appearance by Santa himself.
For its second year, the Made in East Yorkshire Market will have additional themed entertainment each day and a festive feel throughout the event. Over the three days of the event, taking place within the Saturday Market area in Beverley, stalls will be open from 10am until 6pm.
