Having a blast in Beverley

Nothing says motorsport quite like a car rally night stage; and several of those have been included in this year’s East Riding Stages Rally in Beverley, which will be held on 21 and 22 February. The closed-road stage rally is also the opening round of the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship, and last year’s event attracted over 10,000 spectators. Stages this year will see cars driving through Seaton, Old Ellerby, Swine, and Beverley Westwood. https://bit.ly/45TOoX2

Celebrating 20 women who changed the world

An exhibition in Hull’s Museums Quarter is celebrating the lives of 20 women who changed the world, spanning from the 1500s to the present day. The artworks at The Streetlife Museum will depict modern and historical figures from Marie Curie and Zaha Hadid to Florence Nightingale, in addition to other women whose achievements continue to shape people’s daily lives. The free-entry exhibition runs from 13 February to 11 April 2026. https://bit.ly/47WUK9P

A plant pageant at this Elizabethan gem

Lincolnshire’s Doddington Hall – an Elizabethan manor house with 400 years of unbroken family ownership – is once again hosting a pageant of spring bulbs throughout the Gardens. Beginning in early February with snowdrops and winter aconites, Cyclamen coum, and Crocus tommasinianus (from 4 February), it then continues through March and early April with drifts of Lent lilies and a collection of heritage daffodils. Garden admission applies (£9.50 adults, £4.50 children). https://bit.ly/4q8ltpt

Gainsborough set to dazzle this February

Gainsborough’s dazzling Illuminate event returns on 21 February with its popular lantern parade, light displays, fire garden and more. Last year’s event saw thousands of visitors gather in the town to see hand-crafted lanterns made by children and community groups in the run up the event. This year’s theme is ‘Through The Window’, which is inspired by the architecture of the town’s iconic buildings and begins with the Illuminate Lantern Parade at 6pm, with the fire garden and exhibition running through to 8pm. https://bit.ly/3M1yQtO
