Dive into Hull’s seafaring history

Free tickets are now available to tour Hull’s historic Spurn Lightship, which re-opens to the public on 7 March after a multi-million-pound restoration. Built in 1927 to guide ships through the treacherous River Humber, it became a floating museum before closing in 2018 for a major restoration. Now fully restored, and with new interpretation, it will become the first of the new-look maritime visitor attractions to open as part of the £65m five-year Hull Maritime project. Limited on-board capacity means pre-booking is encouraged.

Snap to it in Lincolnshire

Visitors to Lincolnshire’s Doddington Hall can discover the changing story of this Elizabethan house through a fascinating display of archive photographs and carefully chosen objects. Spanning more than a century, Then & Now traces how the Estate and the wider village have evolved, from the development of its buildings to the lives of the people who worked there. The free entry exhibition runs until 27 March 2026.

Hop into a fun-packed Easter playtime

Following last year’s popular event, William’s Den will be welcoming families back for a full day of springtime fun and adventure. Easter Adventures at the award-winning adventure play attraction on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds will run daily from 28 March to 12 April featuring indoor-outdoor play, live entertainment and hands-on seasonal activities. Tickets start from £17.95 for children aged from 3 years, £15.95 for those aged 1–3 years, and £12.95 for adults.

Out of this world line-up for Hull

British space scientist and science educator, Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Team GB Olympian Grant Hardie and British Ice Dancing great, Sir Christopher Dean will visit Hull for ColliderFest 2026. Following the success of its debut last year, the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths (STEAM) festival returns to Hull 12 – 15 March, promising “an even more dynamic celebration of science, creativity, and culture”. This year’s festival also includes two parades through the city centre.

Hop to it, at Gunby Estate, this Easter

Hop along to one of Lincolnshire’s many National Trust properties – Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens – this Easter, to enjoy a bunny-themed sensory trail through the gardens. With fun activity stations and plenty of surprises along the way, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy between 28 March and 20 April.

20 Women Who Changed the World

A new exhibition has opened in the Museums Quarter in Hull, celebrating the lives of twenty historical women who changed the world, spanning from the 1500s to the present day. 20 Historical Women Who Changed The World is a collection of works depicting modern and historical figures from Marie Curie and Zaha Hadid to Florence Nightingale, in addition to other women whose achievements continue to shape people’s daily lives. The free-entry exhibition runs until 11 April 2026.

It’s a Photo Finish at Beverley

Seven leading regional photographers have been able to capture a year of action at Beverley Racecourse – the crowds, the stewards, and the stars of the show, the horses and jockeys – for an exhibition at the East Yorkshire town’s Champney Treasure House Museum. Objects and archive documents exploring Beverley’s horse racing history will also be on show at the free-entry exhibition, Photo Finish: A Year At Beverley Races, until 6 June.
