Visitors to the dramatic cliffs of East Yorkshire this May could see their spirits soar as high as a kite… thanks to some of the world’s largest flying inflatables.
Back for 2022, the annual Bridlington Kite Festival returns to its traditional May weekend after being staged in September last year, due to the pandemic.
Now, this popular event is set to return in all its glory in its usual spot with a full line-up of big, and small, kites, along with street food stalls, fairground rides and children’s entertainment.
Kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours will take to the air for two days of aerial displays over Sewerby Fields, above the popular seaside resort of Bridlington, 21-22 May 2022.
Previous years have seen everything from flying frogs to sky-high snakes and leaping lizards to daredevil dragons, with internationally renowned experts providing spectacular displays for hundreds of spectators over the weekend.
And as well as professional demonstrations, visitors can also go fly a kite themselves with have-a-go supervised sessions.
Organised by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Visit East Yorkshire events team, along with the Northern Kite Group, the Festival will run from 10am to 5pm on both days and is free to attend.
For those who love a fun fact about kites, the event’s website has plenty of information to get you in the mood for the Festival.
