Looking for some ‘ginspiration’?

Until we can once again join one of the top rated experiences at Hampshire’s award winning Bombay Sapphire Distillery, how about being inspired to create one of their signature cocktails at home? Discover how to make cocktails just like the professionals with these video tutorials, recipes and top tips to create your favourite cocktail in the comfort of your own home.

Why this gin rocks!

Under normal (non-lockdown) conditions, tours of White Peak Distillery, in Ambergate, near Derby, are available. But for now, White Peak Distillery is still doing a roaring trade online. Their Shining Cliff Gin is the star of the show. It’s a small batch Derbyshire dry gin, inspired by the berries, hedgerows and flowers of Ambergate’s Shining Cliff Woods. Also on the label is an engraving of Betty and Luke Kenny’s ancient yew tree: the very tree which inspired the nursery rhyme “Rock-a-bye Baby”.

Hats off to the NHS

Staffordshire’s Nelson’s Gin & Vodka School has created a special blend to raise funds for the NHS. With every purchase of its limited edition blue ‘Hats Off To Our Heroes’ gin, £10 goes to the NHS Charities Together fund. Neil Harrison, master distiller and founder, has also taken to Facebook to craft gin cocktails to enjoy at home, including Rhubarb & Custard Pimms!

A ‘Dam’ fine gin

Lincolnshire’s The Coastal Distillery is still producing artisan gin and spirits – including a gin inspired by the county’s RAF heritage. Dam Raider Gin commemorates 617 Squadron, the Dambusters – who were based in the county – and which comes in a ‘first of its kind’ bottle, a cutting edge 3D depth-effect, featuring a Lancaster bomber. Also new for 2020 is Watermelon Gin, perfect for summer drinks

Fort-ified spirits in Hampshire

Housed within the 18th century Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth Distillery has given the city its own distillery for the first time in centuries. Its tours are currently closed, but it’s possible to order online with free UK delivery, including its award-winning Fort Gin, which combines locally foraged botanicals such as Elderflower, Gorse Flowers and Sea Radish

Spirit of the river

It might be better known for its fly fishing, but the crystal-clear waters of Hampshire’s River Test produces award-winning gin too. Jonathan and Sarah Nelson, launched The River Test Distillery. Using pure, chalk-filtered water, they combine local handpicked meadowsweet flowers and rosemary with juniper, angelica, coriander, cassia bark, orange and lemon peel.
