Visit Lincolnshire has started the clock on a new summer and autumn campaign aimed at encouraging visitors to make time for a fresh look at the destination.
Under the banner of ‘Time to Visit Lincolnshire’ the campaign features everything from the city of Lincoln and rolling countryside to market towns and the coast, both the traditional bucket and spade family seaside resorts and wildlife-rich natural coast.
And it launches hot on the heels of news that Lincolnshire has seen the value of tourism hit more than £3b for the first time, up more than three per cent on the previous year.
Figures just released show that during 2024, the county’s economy was boosted by £3.02b from the tourism and hospitality sector, while over the last five years destination website www.visitlincolnshire.com, owned and managed by Lincolnshire County Council, has grown to receiving around one million unique visitors each year.
During 2024, the destination attracted 32 million visitors who stayed for a combined 46 million days.
Now tourism chiefs hope to build on that success and encourage even more visitors to make the time to discover what the county has to offer.
Focussing on the great outdoors and nature, as well as family fun seaside days out and holidays, the ‘Time to Visit Lincolnshire’ campaign will also promote another of the destination’s top attractions, history and heritage.
‘Set-jetting’ – visits to real life TV and movie locations – is also seen as a big draw for the county.
Nationally, around 30% of travellers now say that TV shows and movies influence their travel plans, and Lincolnshire has its fair share of hotspots to visit – featuring in everything from Bridgerton and Napoleon to Downton Abbey and Wild Bill(www.visitlincolnshire.com/things-to-do/set-jetting/).
And it will be time for Lincolnshire to shine again later this year after Burghley House was used as one of the locations for Netflix’s biggest movie of 2025, Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro’s adaption of Frankenstein, streaming this November.
More about the summer campaign will be released over the coming weeks.
