Discover Lincolnshire virtually in 2021

Full details of this year’s virtual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend have been revealed.

Normally March offers a chance to celebrate spring with a real bargain – exploring some of Lincolnshire’s top attractions for free.

But this year, the annual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend – when attractions across the county offer free admission or special deals – is set to go digital.

Due to the current Covid restrictions, the majority of this much-loved event is moving online.

So, this year, instead of visiting in person, an array of online content and virtual tours can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, 27-28 March 2021.

The event aims to offer a chance for would-be visitors to discover some of Lincolnshire’s top attractions and hidden treasures – and then plan a future visit, when the time is right.

It offers an opportunity to escape the everyday and delve into Lincolnshire’s legendary past, rediscovering iconic landmarks and exploring history and heritage, all from your home.

Among a host of online events and virtual tours are a 360 virtual tour of Doddington Hall and the International Bomber Command Centre.

Or join a live tour of Mrs Smith’s Cottage, a rare time capsule and a window into the past in Navenby in the heart of Lincolnshire, and Lincoln’s Historic Guildhall, where you will be guided around the buildings by knowledgeable hosts.

For inspiration, discover a world of rich history at Lincoln Castle, dating back to 1068 and home to one of only four surviving copies of Magna Carta.

Virtual visitors can also turn the clock back to Roman times for a ‘tour’ of ‘Lindum’, a thriving Roman colony, by following an online trail of the history and heritage that survives to this day in the heritage city of Lincoln.
